Get your make-up basics right......... | ||||||

If you have youth on your side, you don't need much to look fab. A few basic make-up tricks can actually go a long way. Too much make-up can make you look older while too little will brand you as a plain Jane. Here's how you could strike a balance. If your skin is light or light-to-medium, avoid colours that are too dark or bright. They could look harsh on your skin. Here are some suggestions: Eye magic: * Start by applying an off white eyeshadow for fair skin tones, or a butter eyeshadow for darker skin tones, all over, from lashes to brows, using a good eyeshadow brush. * Light, shimmery shadows will brighten up the eyes. Try lilac or a light lavender shimmer, or a beige silvery brown, or a mauvish brown shimmer eyeshadow to achieve this effect. These are to be applied from lash to crease. * Alternatively, for a beautiful, sparkling look, try wearing a light shimmer dust on the lower lid. Grey or steel also looks good. Spread a deep metallic grey with shimmer over this, using your fingertips and finish with a black, smudge-proof mascara. For the cheeks: Pale pinks look beautiful on fair skin tones, giving the cheeks a healthy glow. For darker skin tones, try using a brighter shade of pink or the rosy ones. However, make sure you don't use too much. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks (smile, and they will appear on their own) and blend back towards your ear for a natural look. Lips: Lip gloss is all you need to finish the look. For fair skin tones, try one with a shimmering lilac hint or a rose pink hint. For a bit more colour for darker skin tones, try a flushed or soft red with just a hint of shimmer. Dark skin tones also do well with an aubergine or grape lip gloss.
