Demolition Crisis, Gandhigiri and Idea To Ostracize The Corrupt– Inventor's Response ©

Three issues are involved in present demolition of illegal buildings, which relates to rule of law, governance and management.

Gandhigiri only works in films or when TV crews are covering it and broadcasting it. Majority in public service in this country are so well organized that an honest public servant feels Ostracized, any one not obeying the corrupt superiors is sent to hard area, his salary and wages are frozen. Most often public spirited are fighting lone battle.

I was made in charge of security of then largest public store serving half of India at age 20 on presumption that I shall be ineffective in dealing with experienced crooks. But from the very second I took over I exercised my authority more than 100%. In between I was ostracized my increments were held up, salary denied or delayed and my provident fund put in 3-4 different accounts in Delhi itself. Eventually I resigned.

Even Tatas and Ambani companies making fabulous profits "Deliberately" corrupted the court of Pradeep Nandrajog in meters case.

Our Gandhigiri on meters issue failed even as TV channels covered our demonstrations extensively for months.

Gandhigiri of Medha Patkar and Arundhati Roy failed to move the governments to rehab dam projected displaced people.

v                 From judicial angle I think Supreme Court ought to have directed MCD to demolish any unauthorized construction than sealing. When entire juggi clusters can be demolished there is nothing wrong in demolishing unauthorized establishments.

v                 The Supreme Court can't allow illegal shops and commercial establishments to operate from residential premises competing with regular shops and depriving legal shop owners of business.

v                 Should we allow quacks and draftsmen serve as Doctors and Architects? Obviously not then we must also exclude illegal shops operating from no shopping areas. I have not seen any illegal shop in any developed countries I visited. There were some Sunday sales of used items but there were no legal sales of eatables, which were controlled by food and safety laws.

v                 It was corrupt and conniving government that promoted illegal constructions in first place. It was dubious politicians who on the eve of elections made fool of people of Delhi in to presuming they can add more floors and occupy more area than permissible who are now organizing troubles in Delhi and creating law and order problems.

v                 Contrary to general belief firstly illegal shops make very little profit. Secondly government loses taxes, as illegal shops don't pay all taxes. Thirdly government can explain that illegal shops cause environmental and social problems and disturbance at odd hours to the legal residents. Fourthly illegal shops in unauthorized areas are difficult to monitor by food inspectors etc and don't come under the supervision of police. Fifthly cause civic problems like parking- due to unauthorized constructions roads have become narrow and clogged. Sixthly why legal residents suffer from unauthorized constructions and businesses? Legal shops serve residents through street vendors also who deliver essential milk and bread direct to the residents. And eighthly why a legal two story building be encroached from all sides by four story illegal buildings?

Supreme Court or GOI/ Delhi Government or MCD are yet to address the issues in above paragraph.

Finally we must guard against dubious politicians practicing fake gandhigiri.

Novel form of protest to wake the Indian Government from its deep slumber.

Gandhigiri se agey chalega kya?

For all who want some semblance of working from the Government here is a novel way of protest. Even the die hards would wake up.

For all who are fed up with the standoff between the Judiciary and the Polity in the present demolition crisis which has resulted in the City coming to a complete stand still, just do the following and I am almost certain that we would see results. No more burning buses and stone throwing. No more bundhs and strikes.  Only performance is what you must get as a fundamental right.

If you have a friend or neighbor who is from the Government machinery by way of being an officer of the Government, Judiciary or the Political system, OSTERCISE him and his family. No Rations from the shops, no Milk, no Medical Services from the Pharmacy, no transport from the Auto or Taxis or Private transport and most of all no communication with their children.

Some argue that these people would make arrangements from other sources in the neighboring areas, but then can you imagine the plight of a senior officer's wife when her servant comes home and tells her that the local shop keeper has refused to supply daily rations because she happens to be the wife of such and such officer. The neighborhood would know and being associated with non performing government machinery would become an embarrassment. The much looked upon bureaucratic system would take a beating. They have flaunted their position far too long and even more than the white skin did when they ruled us.

This would effectively amount to your getting your right to Referendum which has been denied to you in the constitution that has been thrust upon you. You would then have a government of the people by the people for the people.

Put your name and comments below and pass this on now to see the difference.
